„Album RGG „Memento” wydany został w kultowej serii „Polish Jazz” pod numerem 81. Tytuł „Memento” należy rozumieć jako „Pamiątka”. Nawiązuje do doświadczeń artystycznych wynikłych z obcowania z ekspresją artystów europejskich zapraszanych do współpracy z zespołem. To wspomnienie drogi od wydania płyty „Aura”. „Memento jest pamiątką po tym, jakie RGG było kiedyś, a każdy krok przed siebie zapisuje zupełnie nowy rozdział w artystycznej drodze tej formacji” – mówi kontrabasista Maciej Garbowski.  RGG to trio perfekcjonistów, którzy pojedynczy dźwięk, sposób jego wydobycia i jego kontekst brzmieniowy, traktują jako wartość samą w sobie. Muzyka RGG wymyka się klasyfikacjom, bo członkowie zespołu unikają głównego nurtu, łatwych rozwiązań i oczywistego repertuaru. Łukasz Ojdana, Maciej Garbowski i Krzysztof Gradziuk z niespotykaną konsekwencją i uporem tworzą własną wizję przestrzeni muzycznej, która w oczywisty sposób przekracza granice jazzu. Ale przecież RGG to zespół jazzowy, a jazz to, w ogromnym skrócie: improwizacja + timing + interakcja. I każdy z tych elementów jest na płycie obecny, choć niekiedy w wymiarze ograniczonym, by nie rzec ascetycznym. Muzycy nie rzucają na szalę wszystkich atutów, nie biorą udziału w jazzowych wyścigach, oczekując od nas, słuchaczy, że całą resztę dopowiemy bądź zinterpretujemy sami. Na tym polega m.in. wartość tej płyty, która nawiązuje, sugeruje, inspiruje i podpowiada, pozostawiając resztę odbiorcom. To album, który zaprasza do innego przeżywania czasu muzycznego, bez konieczności szczególnego erudycyjnego przygotowania, także gdy idzie o jazz. Cała reszta zależy od nas. Główna bohaterka - kurtyzana Violetta Valery poświęca się dla miłości, kiedy jej ukochany powraca historia nie może już zakończyć się happy endem.Natalie Dessay made her first European appearances as Violetta in La traviata in a new production by the French director Jean-François Sivadier at the 2011 Aix-en-Provence Festival. This DVD captures her intense performance in the company of American tenor Charles Castronovo as Alfredo and French baritone Ludovic Tézier as his father, Giorgio Germont. “Her theatrical impact is devastating,” wrote the Financial Times.With this new production of La traviata at the 2011 Aix-en-Provence Festival, Natalie Dessay made her first European appearances as Verdi’s Violetta, a pinnacle of the soprano repertoire. She made her debut in the role in 2009 at the Santa Fe Festival in the US, and subsequently sang Violetta in Japan. Dessay’s 2011-12 season will include La traviata at the Vienna State Opera (in this Aix-en-Provence production by French theatre and opera director Jean-François Sivadier) and the New York Metropolitan.Violetta makes tremendous demands on a singer, both vocally and dramatically, and signals Dessay’s transition from lighter coloratura roles to the more full-blooded lyric repertoire. “I’m tired of playing weeping girls,” she told the French magazine Télé 7 Jours, “Violetta is a real woman. That makes a nice change!” The change was clearly successfully achieved: describing Dessay’s performance, the Financial Times wrote that “her theatrical impact is devastating”.Sivadier’s production was staged in the open air, in Aix-en-Provence’s exquisite Théâtre de l'Archevêché with its huge spiral staircases, medieval arches and 18th-century wings. The stage décor was minimal, the simple costumes evoked the 1940s or 1950s, and the prime focus was on intense characterisation.“One left the theatre emotionally knocked out, but fulfilled,” wrote the magazine Télérama, describing the production as “a magisterial success ... It would be hard to think of a couple more ideally young and beautiful than Natalie Dessay and Charles Castronovo [the stylish American tenor singing Alfredo].” The writer went on to praise “the art with which Natalie Dessay embodies and transfigures the character,” concluding by saying that: “La traviata – literally, the woman gone astray – has never found her way better than at Aix-en-Provence this summer.”Le Figaro found that “Natalie Dessay overwhelms with her fragility and commitment … The singers have the roles in their every fibre … the characters exist with a palpable intensity,” and remarked on the refinement of Louis Langrée’s conducting of the London Symphony Orchestra: “Have we ever heard so many shadings and nuances in Verdi’s orchestration?”The role of Giorgio Germont, Alfredo’s father, is taken by the superb French baritone Ludovic Tézier. In Act II, set at Violetta’s country house near Paris, he sings the touching aria “Di Provenza”, in which he urges his son to return home to his family’s native Provence. In this case, Alfredo would not have far to travel!
