Na równi z innymi bardzo „klasycznymi” instrumentami, takimi jak harfa i waltornia, flet jest outsiderem w instrumentarium jazzu. Tym większa chwała i większe zainteresowanie należą się Francuzce Mariane Bitran ukazującej wieli potencjał fletu w świecie jazzu. Flecista od wczesnej młodości była znanym muzykiem sesyjnym wzmacniając swą grą zespoły i transmisje radiowe. Wreszcie postanowiła nagrać własną płytę. W ścisłej współpracy z genialnym duńskim pianistą Poulem Reimannem stworzyła doskonały debiut zawierający głównie kompozycje własne i Reimanna. Jej czysty dźwięk i czarująca elegancja z pewnością nie są codziennością w jazzie. Znalazła swoją własną muzyczną tożsamość, wyraża się technicznie w jazzowym idiomie, ma prawdziwą i głęboko muzyczną wyobraźnię i wydaje się być w stanie grać to co czuje. Dominuje nad swoim materiałem, improwizując w oryginalny i rytmicznie uzasadniony sposób.
