2013 sees the centenary of Benjamin Britten’s birth and Hyperion starts celebrating early with this disc of two of the composer’s most popular choral works, both with a Christmas relevance. The cantata Saint Nicolas tells the story of the original ‘Santa Claus’, a fourth-century saint whose acts—revitalizing three boys who had been pickled by an unscrupulous landlord being among the more dramatic—led to his canonization as patron saint of children and sailors. Britten’s lively setting is distinctly operatic, full of incident and colour—with the story brought ‘home’ through the use of congregational hymns. The part of Nicolas (here sung magnificently by Allan Clayton, already acclaimed as the heir to Peter Pears and Anthony Rolfe Johnson) is one of Britten’s great heroic tenor roles.A Ceremony of Carols is a setting for treble voices and harp of some of the medieval texts which Britten loved so much, and is heard every Christmas in cathedrals, churches and concert halls throughout the land. This fresh, sparkling performance completes a thoroughly festive release.

Album zawiera doskonałą kompilację oryginalnych nagrań słynnego hiszpańskiego gitarzysty i kompozytora, mistrza stylu Flamenco - Paco Peny. Wsród największych hitów możemy posłuchać takich utworów jak Milonga, Sevillanas, Alegrias de Cordoba, Tristeza gitana (seguirillas), Palmas y guitarra (bulerias), Rondena   i wiele innych. Występował wspólnie z innymi gitarzystami, śpiewakami i grupami muzycznymi, łącząc flamenco z różnymi gatunkami muzycznymi: klasyką, jazzem, bluesem, country czy muzyką południowoamerykańską. Od 1970 r. regularnie występuje na scenie w towarzystwie wyselekcjonowanego zespołu tancerzy, gitarzystów i śpiewaków, dając niezwykle oryginalne i innowacyjne koncerty w Londynie (Royal Festival Hall, Sadler’s Wells Theatre i Barbican) oraz podczas różnych festiwali: w Edynburgu, Adelajdzie, Amsterdamie, Atenach, Izraelu, Stambule, Singapurze i Hong Kongu. Choć artysta mieszka w Londynie, gdzie wyjechał pod koniec lat sześćdziesiątych, to nadal spędza wiele czasu w swojej rodzinnej Andaluzji. W 1997 r. otrzymał z rąk króla Hiszpanii Juana Carlosa zaszczytne odznaczenie „Orden del Merito Civil”.       Tracklista:1. Rondena2. Sevillanas3. Palmas y guitarra (bulerias)4. Tientos de la bahia5. Wznowienie drugiego albumu znakomitej formacji The Waterboys, dowodzonej przez charyzmatycznego Mike'a Scotta. "A Pagan Place" ukazał się w 1984 roku i był pierwszą płytą zespołu nagraną z Karlem Wallingerem w składzie. W tytułowej pozycji słychać kapitalne solo na trąbce Roddy'ego Lorimera.  Utwory były bogatsze aranżacyjnie, co szczególnie słychać, chociażby w "All The Things She Gave Me", "Rags", "Red Army Blues", czy "The Big Music". Reedycja jest bogatsza o sześć bonusów oraz surowe wersje "All The Things She Gave Me" i "The Thrill Is Gone". Mike Scott napisał nowe notki książeczki.
