First release of the world famous Netherlands Chamber Choir with their new Chief Conductor: Risto Joost. This young Estonian prodigy has worked with such prolific groups as the Theatre of Voices with Paul Hillier and Concerto Copenhagen. Joost is also Chief Conductor of the Opera in Tallin. This first album features a sublime spriritual program, combining the old and the new. This recording promises to offer true bliss!   By the time Arvo Pärt created his tintinnabuli style, the world had already experienced music from plainchant to 20th century experimental music. Yet he felt the need to organise his composition technique in a very strict yet simple manner in order to serve the beauty of a single note in music. It is remarkable how Pärt’s idea is in a very direct dialogue with the music by the master of renaissance polyphony - G.P. da Palestrina, who with his also strict but elaborate composition technique, created the ideal expression for the text. On this recording this dialogue is represented by the order of the music: Pärt’s pieces inbetween the movements of Palestrina’s Missa Papae Marcelli. Interwoven like this they comment on and enhance each other, creating a perfect framework in which the music and the text can flourish.
