The six trio sonatas for oboe, violin and continuo that make up the majority of this disc were long believed to be Handel's earliest surviving compositions, written when the composer was about ten years old. They are works of astonishing maturity and inventiveness for one so young, and twentieth-century scholars have cast doubt over their authorship, although this issue is unlikely ever to be resolved. What is clear is the quality of the music, which alternates slow movments of noble dignity with fast movements displaying quick-witted high spirits and contrapuntal interplay. The other Sonata on this disc, No 8 in G minor, was composed around 1720 and is a work of greater maturity and textural variety, with a mixture of elegant pathos and striking thematic richness.

Na przestrzeni 6 lat, które minęły od 1953 roku i nagrania "Łucji z Lammermooru", głos Callas stał się być może mniej krzepki, ale za to jej interpretacje nabrały dojrzałości. Jak pisano w "Gramophone": "Interpretacja Pani Callas jest jeszcze bardziej wyrafinowana, wyborna, a także bardziej fascynująca, muzycznie i dramaturgicznie subtelniejsza, jednym słowem – jeszcze piękniejsza".
Autor napomnianego przeboju “Happy” z drugiej części filmu o Minionkach – Pharrell Williams – powraca… znów w towarzystwie żółtych stworków! Słynny wokalista, kompozytor i producent jest autorem większości utworów ze ścieżki dźwiękowej do trzeciej części serii “Despicable Me” – zatytułowanej w Polsce „Gru, Dru i Minionki”. Na płytę trafiło aż 8 utworów Pharrella, w tym słynny utwór “Freedom” (to w jego rytm Minionki w filmie uciekają z więzienia!) oraz singiel promujący film i soundtrack - “Yellow Light', któremu towarzyszy rewelacyjny, stylizowany na grę komputerową teledysk kręcony na ulicach Hollywood. Czy stanie się tak popularny jak “Happy”? To się jeszcze okaże, ale dla przypomnienia: “Happy” z filmu “Descpicable Me 2” to jeden z największych hitów XXI wieku – podchwycony przez fanów doczekał się tysięcy amatorskich klipów z różnych miast świata, sprzedał się w ilości 14 milionów i przyniósł Pharrellowi nagrodę Grammy. Cała ścieżka dźwiękowa do “Gru, Dru i Minionki / Despicable Me 3” to świetna składanka na lato – poza utworami Pharrella znajdziemy tu sporą dawkę nostalgii – od “Bad” Michaela Jacksona, przez “99 Luftballons” Neny, “Into The Groove” Madonny aż po “Take On Me” a-ha. Wszystko przez nowy czarny charakter i jednocześnie naprawdę złego brata Gru - Balthazara Bratta (Trey Parker), który właśnie w latach 80-tych był dziecięcą gwiazdą filmów dla najmłodszych, a obecnie tęskni za tamtą popularnością. Na płycie usłyszymy go w piosence “Hug Me” w duecie z Pharrellem Williamsem.
