Even if the titles of „Le Matin“, „Le Midi“ and „Le Soir“ further today‘s popularity of the three pieces, the Time of Day as a subject merely provided Haydn with an inspiration to compose. Haydn‘s Symphonies Nos. 6-8 are only programme music to a limited extent, but rather they were an ideal platform for the remarkable pleasure in experimentation displayed by the new and imaginative Deputy Kapellmeister of the virtuoso Esterházy court orchestra. The three symphonies are distinguished by a rich variety of form, themes and orchestration, which identify Haydn as an extremely resourceful composer, who cleverly knew how to display his court orchestra in a „favourable light“. For Sigiswald Kuijken and La Petite Bande, they are again the appropriate works to show off once more the virtuosity and abilities of what has proved to be one of the best ensembles for historical performance practice.
W dniach 14 i 15 maja br. w Nilento Studio w Goteborgu odbyła się wspólna sesja nagraniowa dwóch wyjątkowych muzyków europejskiej sceny jazzowej: szwedzkiego mistrza kontrabasu i wiolonczeli Larsa Danielssona, oraz włoskiego trębacza Paolo Fresu. Artystów tych nie trzeba przedstawiać miłośnikom jazzu; obaj legitymują się przebogatym dorobkiem artystycznym obejmującym rozmaite projekty i dysponują własną rozpoznawalną manierą i stylem gry. Wspólne tworzenie muzyki w konwencji kameralnego duetu okazało się dla nich doświadczeniem tak udanym, iż efekt dwudniowej sesji zdecydowali się opublikować w formie albumu, jaki 28 września ukaże się nakładem wytwórni ACT. Atmosferyczna muzyka wypełniająca płytę zatytułowaną: "Summerwind", mieni się rozmaitymi barwami, emocjami i głębią. Poza własnymi kompozycjami, Danielsson i Fresu sięgnęli m.in. po nieśmiertelny standard "Autum Leaves", kołysankę "Sleep Safe And Warm" Krzysztofa Komedy z filmu "Dziecko Rosemary" i ...twórczość Johanna Sebastiana Bacha.
