Jeśli szukacie zespołu, który ma najlepszą sekcję dętą na świecie i tworzy muzykę na styku soulu, funky, jazzy i R&B, nazwa Tower Of Power powinna pojawić się Wam w głowie jako jedna z pierwszych, o ile nie pierwsza. Zespół z kalifornijskiego Oakland działa już blisko 45 lat i jest inspiracją dla kolejnych pokoleń muzyków. O wielkości Tower Of Power można się doskonale przekonać sięgając po prezentowane wydawnictwo z cyklu "Original Album Series". W boxie znalazły się bowiem krążki nagrane przez zespół w latach 1973-75. Na początek dostajemy drugi w dyskografii TOP album "Bump City" z 1972 roku, na którym znalazł się pierwszy przebój zespołu "You're Still A Young Man", który trafił do pierwszej 30. "Billboardu". Jeszcze lepiej było w przypadku wydanego dosłownie parę miesięcy później materiału "Tower Of Power". Dotarł do 15. miejsca na "Billboardzie", w USA pokrył się złotem i przyniósł kolejny hit – "So Very Hard To Go". Aż tak dobrze nie radził sobie komercyjnie "Back To Oakland" z 1974 roku, ale recenzenci wysoko ocenili ten materiał. Zwłaszcza ze względu na znakomite partie perkusyjne. Magazyn "Modern Drummer" wręcz umieścił płytę na liście tych, których bezwzględnie powinien posłuchać każdy perkusista. Równie wysoki poziom artystyczny utrzymał album "Urban Renewal" z 1975 roku. Było to jednak ostatnie wydawnictwo TOP z wokalistą Lennym Williamsem, który wkrótce po nim odszedł, by poświęcić się karierze solowej. Ostatnia pozycja w boxie to wydany jesienią 1975 roku album "In The Slot", nagrany już z nowym wokalistą Hubertem Tubbsem. Komercyjnie nie radził sobie za dobrze, lecz znalazły się na nim znakomite kompozycje TOP, wysoko ocenione przez krytyków. Każdy z krążków jest w wersji zremasterowanej, a całość dostępna jest w wyjątkowo okazyjnej cenie.
