We have already featured Lev Oborin (on APR6005) playing Rachmaninov's second and third Concertos, and that he was entrusted with the first ever Soviet recordings of these works shows the status he held at that time. He studied with Igumnov at the Moscow Conservatory from the age of 14 and in 1927, at the age of 19, he won the first Chopin competition. From this time on until his death he was central to Russian musical life both as performer and teacher (he taught Vladimir Ashkenazy amongst many others).Oborin was the 'complete' pianist. He had a magnificent technique and seemed to be able to play any style of repertoire convincingly. He was also equally at home as soloist or chamber player, indeed in the West he is still perhaps better known as accompanist to the great violinist David Oistrakh due to the recordings they made together.The present CD presents Oborin as classicist in Beethoven, as the great Chopin interpreter, as virtuoso in the Liszt Rhapsody and as Russian lyricist in the Tchaikovsky. He is magnificent in all.

Zinterpretowali piosenki po swojemu, nierzadko wykazując się sporą odwagą, bo przyszło im się mierzyć niejednokrotnie z utworami mającymi już status legendarnych.Album “Sounds Of The 80s” udowadnia, że z tego niełatwego zadania młodzi wywiązali się fantastycznie. Wielkie wrażenie robi Sam Smith interpretujący jeden z pierwszych hitów Whitney Houston, „How Will I Know”, podobnie Ed Sheeran i jego przeróbka numeru Bruce’a Springsteena „Atlantic City”, Birdy śpiewająca „Lucky Star” Madonny, czy Caro Emerald, która przerobiła „Walk Like An Egyptian” żeńskiej grupy The Bangles. Młode pokolenie gwiazd popu pokazało, że szanuje swoich mistrzów i potrafi w ciekawy, kreatywny sposób podejść do ich kompozycji.„Sounds Of The 80s” to w sumie 39 piosenek pochodzących z lat 80. Oprócz młodych popowych gwiazd, część z nich zinterpretowali starsi mistrzowie, jak Level 42, Lisa Stansfield, Kylie Minogue, Dolly Parton, Chrissie Hynde. Powstała niezwykle interesująca płyta, na której wspaniale koegzystują różne pokolenia gwiazd muzyki.Wyjątkowym polskim akcentem „Sounds Of The 80’s” jest cover piosenki „Burning Down The House” z repertuaru amerykańskiej grupy Talking Heads, pod którym podpisały się dawno niesłyszane razem siostry Natalia i Paulina Przybysz. Niegdyś twarze i głosy popularnej soulowej grupy Sistars, od lat zajmują się własnymi solowymi karierami, rzadko wchodząc razem do studia. Ich wersja pamiętnego przeboju zespołu Davida Byrne’a z 1983 roku to dopiero drugie oficjalne wspólne nagranie sióstr od czasu rozwiązania Sistars. W studiu Natalię i Paulinę wsparło dwóch świetnych perkusistów: znany niegdyś ze składu Sistars, a obecnie grający m.in. z Arturem Rojkiem Marcin Ułanowski oraz występujący na co dzień z Natalią Hubert Zemler.
