Celebrated by famous painters and dtudied by specialists, the musette is still the least-known of Baroque instruments. It is easily confused with other bagpipes, and even with a small oboe. The reasons for such mistakes are quite understandable; even when the instruments was at its height, such analogies were common. In order to avoid confusion, we thus prefer, nowadays, to refer to this instrument as a musette de Coeur or Baroque musette.
