Robben Ford był najbardziej znany jako gitarzysta Milesa Davisa w latach 80., ale współpracował także z takimi mistrzami jak George Harrison, Joni Mitchell czy Little Feat. Powrócił w 2014 roku z nowym albumem studyjnym  Nagrano go zaledwie w jeden dzień przy użyciu oldschoolowych technik studyjnych i wyjątkowego zespołu składającego się z gitarzysty Audleya Freeda (Black Crowes), klawiszowca Ricky Petersona (David Sanborn), basisty Briana Allena (Jason Isbell), perkusisty Wesa Little (Sting) i puzonisty Barry Greena (Tony Bennett). Druga płyta w serii Jazz Legends "Friday Night at the Village Vanguard” to nagranie koncertu live. Został on zarejestrowany w styczniu 1985 roku w Village Vanguard, jednym z najbardziej znanych i prestiżowych klubów jazzowych Nowego Jorku. W nagraniach udział wzięli wybitni muzycy: Ron Carter, Mike Gerber, Lenny White i Michał Urbaniak. Płyta zostały opatrzone niezwykle interesującym komentarzem znanego krytyka muzycznego – Mikea’a Hennesseya. Urbaniak wspomina te nagrania: "Zagranie w Village Vanguard jest jednym z największych marzeń każdego muzyka jazzowego. Mnie udało się zagrać tam kilka razy, na dodatek z najlepszą sekcją rytmiczną na świecie.
