Płyta umożliwi nam wysłuchanie pierwszych kompozycji jeszcze z czasów wczesnego dzieciństwa multiinstrumentalisty Telemanna, co sprawia iż na płycie usłyszymy szeroką gamę melodii jak i rytmów, w szybkich ruchach jak wtedy grywał Telemann. Jak bardzo Masaaki Suzuki ze swoim Bach Collegium Japan zasłużony jest dla nagrywania muzyki religijnej, głównie kantat Jana Sebastiana Bacha, nie trzeba tu pisać. Nawet nie wypada. Teraz mamy możliwość obcowania z jego muzyczną propozycją kantat świeckich kantora z Lipska. Tym razem Durchlauchtster Leopold BWV 173a (Serenata), Weichet nur, betrübte Schatten BWV 202 (Wedding Cantata), Schwingt freudig Euch Empor BWV 36c oraz Wedding Quodlibet BWV 524 (fragment). Dwa z tych utworów zostały skomponowane na uroczystości weselne. Przy czym Quodlibet – muzyczny kalambur mający swa bogatą tradycję – przeznaczony był z pewnością dla bardziej prywatnego muzykowania podczas weselnej biesiady. Nie sposób choć jednym zdaniem odnieść się do samych dzieł. Zachwyca jednak jak zawsze u Suzukiego perfekcja wykonawcza, wyrównane brzmienie i wyczucie stylu. Bach Collegium Japan to idiom jedyny w swoim rodzaju. Warto go poznać.
