For its 40th birthday, Musique en Wallonie begins a long and rich journey around Roland de Lassus (Mons, 1531 – Munich, 1594). In five years, five discs recorded by five European ensembles will draw a musical biography of the famous composer through unreleased works. Volume I of this anthology includes pieces dating from the 1550s, period of travelling – Naples, Rome, England, Netherlands – and the growth of Lassus’ fame. Madrigals, motets, chansons and villanelles this CD consists in are constantly impregnated by various madrigalisms, an expressive device consisting of transposing into music the notions (material, intellectual or emotional) suggested by the text.

Since its founding in 1998, Private Musicke, under the direction of Pierre Pitzl, has appeared at various European early music festivals (Resonanzen Wien, Lucerne Festival, Edinburgh Festival, Festwochen Innsbruck, Helsinki Festival, London Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebow, Berlin Kammerphilharmonie a.o.). Several CDs for the ACCENT have been released; they have been distinguished with critical acclaim and international prizes. The CD “Lettere amorose”, released in 2010 with the soprano Magdalena Kožená by Deutsche Grammophon, was awarded with the Diapason d’Or.The guitar is an instrument especially inviting for improvisation. This goes for the 17th century as well as nowadays. Many of the pieces on this CD are written like sketches asking for further development. Private Musicke took up those stimulating suggestions and turned them into a program providing a colourful and diverse image of the Italian art of guitar music in the 17th century.

Płyta przedstawia muzykę irlandzkiego kompozytora epoki baroku Matthew Dubourga. Kompozytor był uczniem Geminaniego, był jednym z czołowych muzyków działających w XVIII w wieku w Dublinie. Jego twórczość wokalna i instrumentalna została przedstawiona na tle muzyki innych wpływowych kompozytorów epoki. Wykonawcy to zespół Irish Baroque Orchestra pod dyrekcją Petera Whelana.
Wokalne kompozycje religijne francuskiego kompozytora epoki baroku Henry'ego Du Mont. Tworzył w II polowie XVII wieku, w latch 1663-1683 był nadwornym kompozytorem Ludwika XIV "Króla słońce". Wykonawcy to zespół Ensemble Correspondances pod dyrekcją Sébastiena Daucé.
