Melomani zainteresowani muzyką dawną otrzymują nową płytę z utworami wybitnego staropolskiego kompozytora z czasów późnego baroku – Grzegorza Gerwazego Gorczyckiego (1665–1734). Zamieszczono tu jego dwa cykle mszalne w obsadzie a cappella: Missa Rorate II i Missa Paschalis, cztery hymny w stylu motetowym, koncert kościelny In virtute Tua i dwa duże dzieła wokalno-instrumentalne: Conductus funebris i Litaniae de Providentia Divina. Razem z utworami nagranymi przed dwoma laty przez tych samych wykonawców (Missa Rorate I, Illuxit sol, Laetatus sum, Completorium) tworzy to przegląd najlepszych dzieł kompozytora, reprezentujących różne formy i style. Ta właśnie różnorodność gatunków oraz wysoki poziom twórczego rzemiosła stanowią o wybitnej randze Gorczyckiego w dziejach muzyki staropolskiej. Wykształcenie muzyczne zdobył najpewniej w czasie studiów w Pradze i Wiedniu (1678–89). Wiadomo, że działalność w tej dziedzinie podjął już w czasie krótkiego pobytu w Chełmnie (1692–94) i kontynuował w Krakowie, gdzie piastował stanowisko magister capellae wawelskiej katedry (1698–1734) i jako duchowny sprawował też ważne funkcje kapłańskie.
