Jean Sibelius is known as a great symphonist but he was also a highly skilled and prolific miniaturist who produced short, often aphoristic pieces throughout his life. Although less well-known than his orchestral works, his output for the piano is extensive, and we can now present the second instalment of music for solo piano in the BIS Sibelius Edition. Its predecessor, released as Volume 4 of the edition, presented the piano music that Sibelius composed during his youth and in his national romantic period. The music on this second set was written between 1905 and 1931, and includes the Three Sonatinas, widely seen as some of Sibelius’s finest piano works, as well as the five pieces from the composer’s Op.75, commonly known as ‘The Trees’. Among the several world première recordings in this collection we find an Adagio written for his wife Aino’s birthday in 1931, Sibelius’s last composition for piano – and his only one for piano four-hands. ‘Rakkalle Ainolle’ (‘To My Beloved Aino’) is a mysterious piece, almost devoid of melody as such, but with an astonishingly bold tonal language: might this have been the style of the composer’s Eighth Symphony, by then approaching completion and later reportedly destroyed by the composer? Included are also a number of Sibelius’ own transcriptions, mainly of music he had composed for stage performances of plays such as Pelléas et Mélisande. A special case in this category is the four minute long reworking for the piano of an original bell melody written in 1912 for Helsinki’s newly built Kallio Church. Presenting these close to 6 hours of music is Folke Gräsbeck, who himself has searched the archives, comparing versions and looking for previously unknown pieces. His commitment to the music of Sibelius is close to legendary, and on the basis of the previous volume of piano music alone, his achievement has been described as ‘nothing less than heroic’ (American Record Guide). Another reviewer, in the magazine Pizzicato, has described his performances as ‘both musically and technically impressive; fresh and lively, and with a marked feeling for the dramatic potential of each work.’ Lista utworów:CD 1:1. W 1705 roku Giuseppe Sala opublikował w Wenecji Sonaty da camera a tre, duo violini o viol one o cembalo op. 1 Antoniego Vivaldiego. Cykl ten został uznany za oficjalny debiut 27-letniego wówczas kompozytora. Utwory utrzymane są najbardziej w ówczesnym czasie popularnej formie 3-częściowej,. Ukazują geniusz kompozytora, który w doskonały sposób łączy w nich harmoniczną inwencję z przepiękną melodyką, inspirowaną muzyką wokalną.Wykonania sonat podjął się zespół L'Estravagante, który tworzą skrzypkowie: Stefano Montanari i Stefano Rossi, wiolonczelista Francesco Galligioni oraz klawesynista i organista Maurizio Salerno –  doświadczeni muzycy i pedagodzy, specjalizujący się w wykonawstwie historycznym, na instrumentach z epoki. Mimo, że zespół nie ma długiej historii, zdążył już zdobyć admiratorów, którzy cenią go za świeże podejście do barokowej muzyki i oryginalne interpretacje.Płyta ta rozpoczyna cykl nagrań utworów Vivaldiego, nie należących do turyńskiej kolekcji i nawiązuje do rozpoczętego w 2009 roku cyklu “New Discoveries”. Stanowi kontynuację The Vivaldi Edition – jednego z najbardziej ambitnych projektów fonograficznych ostatnich lat, którego celem jest stworzenie cyklu nagrań utworów Antonio Vivaldiego, przechowywanych w rękopisach przez Narodową Bibliotekę Uniwersytecka w Turynie. Prace prowadzone są pod przewodnictwem wybitnego muzykologa włoskiego Alberto Basso (Istituto Per i Beni Musicali in Piemonte), a nagrania dokonywane oraz publikowane przez Naïve Classique. Projekt rozpoczęto w 2000 roku, a zakończenie planowane jest na rok 2015. Przedmiotem badan jest około 450 dziel stanowiących prywatna bibliotekę Antonio Vivaldiego, w tym 15 oper, setki koncertów oraz liczne sakralne i świeckie utwory wokalne, w dużej części nieznane publicznie. Idea towarzysząca wszystkim zaangażowanym w ten projekt jest także ukazanie geniuszu Antonio Vivaldiego nie tylko jako twórcy ponadczasowej muzyki instrumentalnej, lecz także jako jednego z najwybitniejszych XVIII – wiecznych autorów muzyki wokalnej.Dzięki takim zabiegom, za jakiś czas, będzie można zaprezentować publiczności komplet wszystkich dzieł Antioniego Vivaldiego w wykonaniu najwybitniejszych artystów, specjalizujących się w wykonawstwie muzyki epoki baroku.

"Veni Domine - Advent & Christmas at the Sistine Chapel" to trzecia (po Cantate Domino [2015] i Palestrina [2016]) odsłona unikalnej współpracy pomiędzy Deutsche Grammophon i watykańskim Sistine Chapel Choir. Po raz pierwszy w historii wraz z chórem wystąpiła kobieta. Zaszczytu tego dostąpiła światowej sławy śpiewaczka – Cecilia Bartoli, która przyjęła zaproszenie dyrektora Chóru Kaplicy Syktyńskiej - Monsignora Massimo Palombelli. Brak obecności kobiet wśród członków Chóru w epoce renesansu to fakt dobrze znany i naukowo udokumentowany. Podobnych dowodów nie ma jednak odnośnie średniowiecza. Co więcej, przypuszcza się, że w tamtej epoce w Chórze śpiewały również niewiasty. Zaproszenie Cecilii Bartoli to zatem swoisty powrót do ery, w której kompozytor Pérotin skomponował przepiękną pieśń “Beata Viscera Mariae Virginis”. Jej wykonanie jest świadectwem wielkiego kunsztu zarówno Bartoli, jak i samego Chóru. Czysty, fascynujący głos śpiewaczki w niemal magiczny sposób miesza się z głosami męskimi i chłopięcymi, dzięki czemu ta starodawna pieśń brzmi zaskakująco nowocześnie. Album zawiera wiele premierowych nagrań utworów autorstwa słynnych kompozytorów, takich jak Palestrina czy Allegri. Dzieła te zostały napisane na potrzeby papieskich obchodów Adwentu i świąt Bożego Narodzenia. Do tej grupy należy tajemniczy utwór "Nasceris, alme puer" Allegriego – prawdopodobnie najcenniejsze znalezisko spośród wszystkich, które usłyszymy na krążku. Do pozostałych należą takie dzieła, jak niezwykły hymn bożonarodzeniowy “Christe, Redemptor omnium” Luki Marenzio, a także motet “Conditor alme siderum” Dufaya. Wszystkie utwory zostały wykonane w oparciu o źródłowe manuskrypty ze zbiorów Biblioteki Watykańskiej. Połączenie autentyczności z nowoczesnością: seria nagrań Sistine Chapel Choir dla Deutsche Grammophon to wspaniała kontynuacja dziedzictwa epok renesansu i baroku, będąca ozdobą papiestwa również w XXI wieku.
