Jean Sibelius is known as a great symphonist but he was also a highly skilled and prolific miniaturist who produced short, often aphoristic pieces throughout his life. Although less well-known than his orchestral works, his output for the piano is extensive, and we can now present the second instalment of music for solo piano in the BIS Sibelius Edition. Its predecessor, released as Volume 4 of the edition, presented the piano music that Sibelius composed during his youth and in his national romantic period. The music on this second set was written between 1905 and 1931, and includes the Three Sonatinas, widely seen as some of Sibelius’s finest piano works, as well as the five pieces from the composer’s Op.75, commonly known as ‘The Trees’. Among the several world première recordings in this collection we find an Adagio written for his wife Aino’s birthday in 1931, Sibelius’s last composition for piano – and his only one for piano four-hands. ‘Rakkalle Ainolle’ (‘To My Beloved Aino’) is a mysterious piece, almost devoid of melody as such, but with an astonishingly bold tonal language: might this have been the style of the composer’s Eighth Symphony, by then approaching completion and later reportedly destroyed by the composer? Included are also a number of Sibelius’ own transcriptions, mainly of music he had composed for stage performances of plays such as Pelléas et Mélisande. A special case in this category is the four minute long reworking for the piano of an original bell melody written in 1912 for Helsinki’s newly built Kallio Church. Presenting these close to 6 hours of music is Folke Gräsbeck, who himself has searched the archives, comparing versions and looking for previously unknown pieces. His commitment to the music of Sibelius is close to legendary, and on the basis of the previous volume of piano music alone, his achievement has been described as ‘nothing less than heroic’ (American Record Guide). Another reviewer, in the magazine Pizzicato, has described his performances as ‘both musically and technically impressive; fresh and lively, and with a marked feeling for the dramatic potential of each work.’ Lista utworów:CD 1:1. Ukończył Akademię Muzyczną w Lublanie w Słowenii i ukończył studia u Herberta Hencka w Kolonii w Niemczech. Występował w całej Europie (Niemcy, Włochy, Finlandia, Francja, Holandia, Hiszpania, Austria, Portugalia, Szwajcaria, Szwecja, Wielka Brytania, Rosji, USA, Ameryce Południowej i Chinach). Nagrał pełny zestaw fortepianowy Erika Satiego (10 płyt CD) wydany przez Holenderską wytwórnię Blaricum Music Group (seria Audiophile Classics), dla której przez wiele lat był wyłącznym twórcą. Ostatnio otrzymał wysokie uznanie za swoje interpretacje Arvo Pärta i Philipa Glassa.  Otrzymał nagrodę Złotego Ptaka w 1986 roku oraz nagrodę Prešeren Fund w 2006 roku za kreatywność w dziedzinie muzyki. Éric Alfred Leslie Satie (ur. 17 maja 1866 w Honfleur, zm. 1 lipca 1925 w Paryżu) – francuski kompozytor. Uznawany za prekursora wielu późniejszych awangardowych kierunków artystycznych oraz za najbardziej ekscentrycznego kompozytora czasów Fin De Siècle. Jego prowokacyjne kompozycje w duchu mrocznej, modernistycznej dekadencji, w równym stopniu fascynowały współczesnych, co bulwersowały opinię publiczną. Nazywany był przez krytyków genialnym błaznem. Charakterystyczne dla twórczości Erika Satiego są terminy muzyczne i nazwy kompozycji wymyślone przez jego samego ("Gnossienne"), słowa które nie miały żadnego powiązania z muzyką ("Ogives" - ang. ostrołuk) lub nawiązujące do antycznej Grecji ("Gymnopédie"). Ideałem Satie była muzyka mogąca służyć za tło do życia codziennego, będąca niejako dodatkowym meblem domowym, czyli taka, która mogłaby wpływać na nastrój człowieka, ale nie absorbować go na tyle, aby odrywać od innych zajęć. Do współpracy przy nowym albumie Andrea Bocelli zaprosił największe gwiazdy światowej muzyki! Po wielkim wspólnym przeboju „Perfect Symphony” artysta ponownie połączył siły z Edem Sheeranem w nowym utworze zatytułowanym „Amo Soltano Te” (kompozycja Eda Sheerana ze słowami Tiziano Ferro), a w utworze „If Only” pojawia się rewelacyjna Dua Lipa. Ponadto, na albumie znalazły się nagrania z udziałem Josha Grobana oraz sopranistki Aidy Garifulliny. Jest to pierwszy od 14 lat album artysty z całkowicie nowymi utworami. To 16 oryginalnych kompozycji, celebrujących miłość, rodzinę, wiarę i nadzieję. Kluczowym dla nowego albumu utworem jest znakomity duet ojca z synem. 20 letni Matteo Bocelli staje u boku Andrei w „Fall On Me” - pięknym, wzruszającym utworze o więzi pomiędzy rodzicem i dzieckiem. Utwór ten pojawi się również na soundtracku do nowego filmu Disney’a „Dziadek do Orzechów i Cztery Królestwa”, w którym zagrali Keira Knightley, Mackenzie Foy, Helen Mirren oraz Morgan Freeman. Andrea porównuje głos Matteo do swojego: „Technicznie są bardzo różne, ale jest jedna rzecz, która sprawia, że jednak brzmią podobnie – to artystyczna osobowość.
