Wybitny kompozytor austriacki Gustav Mahler, urodzony w 1860 roku w Kaliste (Cesarstwo Austriackie), zmarł w 1911 w Wiedniu, był on również wspaniałym dyrygentem. Artystę zrodziła epoka neoromantyzmu i przez wielu jest uważany za najlepszego symfonistę. W swoich czasach był doceniany bardziej jako dyrygent niż kompozytor. Wzrost popularności jego twórczością przypada na II połowę XX wieku. Album został wydany przez wytwórnię SWR Music (SWR 19517).

For this latest release in hänssler CLASSIC's Premium Composers edition we have selected a program of serenades and symphonies from Mozart's Salzburg period. Mozart's late years in Salzburg were extremely productive especially in the sphere of orchestral music. Among the works written this particularly creative period were the Symphony K. 319, the Post Horn Serenade and the Haffner Serenade, written for the wedding of Marie Elizabeth Haffner. Mozart would return to this score again in 1782, when time constraints prevented him for composing a new work for the Haffner family, writing instead what has come down to us as the "Haffner" Symphony KV 385. Altogether, a delightful sampling of some of Mozart's most extrovert and joyous music!
This disc of popular works by Emmanuel Chabrier marks the beginning of a new series of French repertoire, performed by the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande under its newly appointed Artistic Director, Neeme Järvi. Also on this disc is the Joyeuse marche, one of Chabrier’s most popular works, and the Bourrée fantasque, based on a dance from the Auvergne region in France where the composer had spent his childhood.
