Kiedy w listopadzie 1978 roku zespół ABBA po raz pierwszy odwiedził Japonię był właściwie nieznany. W ciągu dziesięciodniowego pobytu w Kraju Kwitnącej Wiśni grupa zawładnęła sercami Japończyków na długie lata. Dużą część tego sukcesu zawdzięczają telewizyjnemu recitalowi zatytułowanemu „Special”, podczas którego ABBA wykonała swoje najpopularniejsze piosenki od ‘Waterloo’, ‘SOS’ and ‘Dancing Queen’, po ‘Take A Chance On Me’, ‘Eagle’ i ‘Summer Night City’.
