W 1989 roku wielka legenda R&B, gospel i soulu Bobby Womack, wydał swoją 19. studyjną płytę o wymownym tytule "Save The Children". Było to jedyne wydawnictwo wielce zasłużonego już wówczas artysty (nagrywającego od 1952 roku) dla wytwórni Solar Records.Zawsze otwarty na nową muzykę Bobby, jednocześnie niezapominający swoich korzeni, spróbował na "Save The Children" połączyć wpływy soulu z lat 60. z hiphopowymi klimatami z lat 80. Udało mu się to całkiem nieźle, aczkolwiek nie bez wsparcia, chociażby braci Cecila i Kevina, a także Kega Johnsona i klawiszowca Franka Hamiltona, którzy mieli niebagatelny wpływ na brzmienie albumu. Z "Save The Children" pochodzą bardzo udane kompozycje Bobby'ego, "Baby I'm Back", "She's My Girl", "Now We're Together" i przede wszystkim ballada "Too Close For Comfort".Bobby Womack zmarł nagle w 2014 roku, pozostając aktywnym muzycznie do samego końca.
