Daughter to londyńskie trio, które tworzą: Elena Tonra (śpiew, gitara), Igor Haefeli (gitara) i Remi Aguilella (instrumenty perkusyjne). Zespół powstał w 2010 roku, jako realizacja marzeń Eleny. Po nagraniu Demos EP, Elena połączyła siły z Igorem, wówczas kolegą ze szkolnej ławy. Po wydaniu w kwietniu 2011 roku własnym sumptem czteroutworowej EP-ki His Young Heart, skład zasilił Remi, z którym nagrali kolejną EP-kę The Wild Youth, wydaną pod koniec 2011 roku. Dzięki tym wydawnictwom zyskali lojalnych fanów i zostali dostrzeżeni przez media. Kiedy bilety na pierwszą wielką brytyjską trasę Daughter zostały wyprzedane, a na radiowych playlistach zagościł ich nowy singel Smother, stało się jasne, że jest to grupa, której gwiazda rozbłyśnie w najbliższej przyszłości. If You Leave to debiutancki album Daughter. Nagrywany przez wiele miesięcy w domu i różnych miejscach w Londynie, został wyprodukowany przez Igora, z pomocą Rodhaidha McDonalda (The xx, Adele) i Jolyona Vaughana Thomasa, a jego zmiksowania w High Bank Studios podjął się Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros, M83).
