Perhaps no composer is more associated with a city than Johann Strauss II with Vienna. Indeed it is hard to consider Vienna without thinking of the waltz, and the waltz empire is dominated by the Strauss family. Johann Strauss I & II, Josef Strauss, and Eduard Strauss produced a seemingly inexhaustible supply of melodies which have entranced not only the dancers of the world, but also its musicians and music-lovers from the 1840s to the present. Whilst much of their music has never been out of the recorded repertoire, so prolific was their output that a quantity of top-rate music was forgotten over the years. Jack Rothstein recorded three volumes of such rarities in the 1980s and ’90s, which comprised music by the Strauss family and their contemporaries. So enjoyable and tuneful are these ‘Vienna Premieres’ that it is impossible to understand just why they had been neglected. Time and time again one is amazed at the unflagging inspiration which seemed to come so easily to composers of this period, who produced consistently high-quality light, entertaining music, beautifully crafted and orchestrated. Jack Rothstein was a master of this music. Appointed Musical Director of the Johann Strauss Orchestra in 1976, he was steeped in the distinctive performing style associated with this repertoire for years before making the pioneering digital recordings collected here. Klasyk punk rocka obchodzi 40. urodziny! Specjalna edycja trzeciej płyty grupy Ramones! Dokładnie 4 listopada 1977 roku ukazał się trzeci studyjny album nowojorczyków z Ramones, którzy z czasem stali się największą ikoną punk rocka. "Rocket To Russia", z nieśmiertelnym klasykiem "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker", z okazji 40-lecia premiery ukazuje się ponownie w specjalnej wersji. Ostatnią płytę nagraną przez klasyczny, pierwszy skład Ramonesów, wyprodukowali wujek Jona Bon Joviego, Tony Bongiovi, wespół z perkusistą Tommym Ramone (naprawdę Tommy Erdelyi). Nagrania odbyły się w studiu na środkowym Manhattanie. Oprócz wspomnianego hitu "Sheena Is A Punk Rocker" na "Rocket To Russia" znajdziemy też, chociażby "Rockaway Beach", znakomite covery "Do You Wanna Dance?" i "Surfin' Bird". "Rocket To Russia: 40th Anniversary Deluxe Edition" zawiera dwa miksy albumu, zremasterowany oraz przygotowany specjalnie z okazji rocznicy przez Eda Stasiuma, który pracował podczas sesji nagraniowej w 1977 roku. Dodano niepublikowane wcześniej nagrania studyjne, a także koncert z Glasgow, z 1977 roku. Całość zapakowano w formacie książki w twardej oprawie o wymiarach 12 na 12 cali. W książeczce są opowieści o płycie i samych Ramonesach autorstwa Seymoura Steina z Sire Records, który miał odwagę podpisać z zespołem kontrakt. Sesję nagraniową wspomina Ed Stasium, zaś esej w książeczce napisał współzałożyciel magazynu "Creem" Jaan Uhelszki. "Zdecydowałem się wykorzystać na nowym miksie kawałki "I Don't Care" oraz "It's A Long Way Back To Germany", nagrane w czasie tej samej sesji, ale w zupełnie innych wersjach, które wcześniej nie były znane. Nie ma tutaj "Sheeny...", bo zarejestrowano ją w czasie innej sesji, parę miesięcy wcześniej" – wspomina Stasium. Na dysku drugim można znaleźć, chociażby cover "Needles And Pins", inny miks pochodzącego ze strony B singla "Babysitter", inną wersję "It's A Long Way Back To Germany" z Dee Dee na wokalu, jak i radiowe promo z Joeyem Ramonem w roli główne i wiele innych. Koncert z Glasgow odbył się 19 grudnia 1977 roku w klubie Apollo Centre. Dosłownie parę dni przed tym, jak zarejestrowany został inny występ, na kultowy album "It's Alive".
