An exploration of artist and composer John Cage's composition '49 Waltzes for the 5 Boroughs', originally created using random locations on the Hagstrom map of New York City as a schematic for the piece. As a tribute following Cage's death in 1992, friend and colleague Don Gillespie collected recordings at each location indicated in the 1977 work. Filmed between 1994 and 1995, the varying sights and sounds of the city are captured and assembled into one experience.
