"Fragments Of A Rainy Season" to pierwszy koncertowy album Johan Cale`a, pokazujący tego artystę w kameralnej, akustycznej odsłonie. W przeciwieństwie do punkowych "Sabotage/Live" (1979) czy "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" (1986), przynosi jego najbardziej melodyczną i nastrojową stronę. To właśnie na tej płycie znalazła się jego słynna interpretacja utworu "Hallelujah" Leonarda Cohena, do którego powstał nowy teledysk, wyreżyserowany przez Abby Portner. Ten album jest portretem Cale, którego wielu kocha najbardziej. Człowieka siedzącego samotnie przy Steinway`u w sali koncertowej i interpretującego takie poprockowe utwory jak "Paris 1919" czy "A Child`s Christmas in Wales".
