XX wieku, występował w hollywoodzkich zespołach muzycznych, zauważony przez Hoagy’ego Carmichaela, rozpoczął błyskawiczna karierę. Występował w radiu, nagrywał piosenki do filmów wytwórni Columbia, pojawiał się w telewizji. Pierwszym wylansowanym przez Laine’a przebojem, była piosenka „That’s My Desire”. Wylansował również tytułową piosenkę do legendarnego filmu „W samo południe” z Garym Cooperem.Największe triumfy Frankie Laine święcił jednak nie w USA, a w Wielkiej Brytanii, gdzie wprowadził na I miejsce brytyjskiej listy przebojów aż cztery swoje utwory, w tym goszczący 18 tygodni w zestawieniu z 1953 r., „I Believe”, co do dziś stanowi nie pobity rekord.
