„Quantum Gate” jest 152 albumem Tangerine Dream. Wydawałoby się że te nagrania nigdy nie ujrzą światła dziennego, ze względu na śmierć ich twórcy. Jednak wbrew przeciwnościom losu, reszta grupy w osobach Thorstena Quaesheninga, Ulricha Schnaussa i Hoshiko Yamane, postanowiła je dokończyć, podszlifować i wreszcie wydać. „Quantum Gate” to unowocześniona wersja charakterystycznego brzmienia grupy: zróżnicowana nastrojowo muzyka elektroniczna od soundscapes w stylu ambient po energetyczne i dynamiczne pasaże. Album rozpoczął żywot jako pomysł i seria muzycznych szkiców zapisanych przez Froesego przed śmiercią w 2015r. Pozostali członkowie grupy: Thorsten Quaeschning, Ulrich Schnauss i Hoshiko Yamane wspólnie zrealizowali wizję Edgara, który chciał stworzyć album próbujący przełożyć fizykę kwantową i filozofię na język muzyki. Ulrich Schnauss: „Obecnie żadna dziedzina nauki nie bada naszego pojmowania rzeczywistości (linearna funkcja czasu, itd.) tak głęboko jak fizyka kwantowa. Nic więc dziwnego, że Edgara przyciągały te idee, gdyż zawsze chciał przypominać słuchaczom, że gdzieś istnieją jeszcze nieotwarte drzwi”. Album powstawał w Eastgate Studios w Wiedniu i Townend Studio w Berlinie od sierpnia 2014 do czerwca 2017r. Materiał zmiksowali Thorsten Quaeschning i Ulrich Schnauss, a masteringiem zajął się Birgir Jon „Biggi” Birgisson. Piękną szatę graficzną zaprojektowała wdowa po Edgarze Bianca Froese-Acquaye.
