Ta niemiecka formacja działała na muzycznej scenie w latach 1992 - 2006, a jej twórczość oscylowała w takich gatunkach jak gothic metal i heavy metal. Grupa uznana została wręcz za prekursorów niemieckiej sceny gothic metal, już za sprawą dwóch rewelacyjnie przyjętych demówek "Sharing The Grave” oraz "Darksome Thoughts”. Album "Spellcraft” ukazał się w 1997 roku i okazał się międzynarodowym sukcesem zespołu.

Probably copied around 1200, this songbook was discarded within a generation or so and used as flyleaves for another book. It was poorly written, decayed and damp, marred by stains and the ravages of time, but because the pages were being used for another purpose, some unknown benefactor preserved this wealth of music and poetry. The songbook then remained hidden for some six hundred years.  This recording is an almost complete anthology of songs from the booklet. It isn’t known where it was copied, but it is believed to be an important religious foundation that housed by chance a few unusually keen singers. Many of the pieces are associated with major feasts of the liturgical year, including some which fall in the intensely festive period between Christmas and New Year’s Day. Zespół założony w 1987 roku w Szwecji, już dzisiaj jest uważany za kultowy. Powodów jest bardzo dużo, lecz najprościej ująć, że pomimo różnych stylistyk w jakich się Therion by nie poruszał zawsze tworzy wielkie dzieła. Czy to na początku kariery kiedy grali death-metal „Beyond Sanctorum”, czy to kiedy poszli w bardziej gotycko-symfoniczne rejony „Theli” (wydawca nie nadążał z tłoczeniem krążków tak dobrze się sprzedawała) , „Vovin” ich muzyka zawsze wykraczała poza ramy danego gatunku. Najnowszy krążek, jest kontynuacją niezwykle udanego „Gothic Kabbalah”. Ciekawostką jest fakt, że od 2010 roku do zespołu dołączył Snowy Shaw na wokalu, dawny perkusista Mercyfull Fate.
