Dla każdego, kto jakimś przypadkiem zetknął się wcześniej z będącymi w dystrybucji Sonic Records albumami "Tiny Voices", "Civilians" czy "Blood From The Stars", Joe Henry okazywał się odkryciem. Jak bardzo jest on ceniony w USA świadczy fakt, że jest on cenionym producentem, który ma na koncie tak płyty Aimee Mann, Ani DeFranco czy Elvisa Costello, jak i udane powroty legend czarnej muzyki, Salomona Burke'a i Bettye LaVette. Na swoich autorskich płytach Henry prowadzi nieustający dialog - czasem czuły, czasem gniewny - z całą amerykańską tradycją muzyczną. Jak jednak widać coraz wyraźniej - przynajmniej od czasu "Civilians" (2007) - jego serce należy do bluesa. "Reverie" to dalszy krok w tym kierunku: album zaskakująco surowy, ascetyczny, nagrany w ciągu ledwie trzech dni, oparty na akustycznych brzmieniach fortepianu (Keefus Ciancia), basu (David Piltch), perkusji (Jay Bellerose) i gitary Marca Ribota, który dołączył do zespołu odrobinę później.
Koncert nagrany w mistyczną noc sylwestrową w Great American Music Hall w San Francisco, w składzie: Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Peeping Tom), Buzz Osborne (Melvins), Dale Crover (Melvins), oraz Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle, Madlove). Wszystkie utwory z albumu The Director’s Cut oraz bis w postaci kowerów Al.’a Green’a i Marca Bolana/T.Rex. Dodatkowo komentarz autorstwa amerykańskiego komika Neila Hamburgera (wydającego płyty w Drag City).
