Czwarta studyjna płyta Lily Allen jest następczynią słynnej "Sheezus" z 2014 roku, która zdobyła szczyty brytyjskiego notowania i uzyskała na Wyspach status złotej płyty. "No Shame" powstawała długo, ponieważ wiele działo się w życiu prywatnym Angielki. Rozpad małżeństwa mocno odbił się na Lily. Artystka musiała się odbudować psychicznie i zdecydować, w jakim kierunku powinna pójść jej muzyka. Efektem jest 14 utworów, w których Lily nie obawia się poruszać bardzo intymnych tematów, jak właśnie rozpad małżeństwa, relacje z dziećmi, uzależnienie od różnych substancji. Piosenki Allen zaczęła pisać już w 2015 roku, prace zakończyła na początku 2018. Do współpracy artystka zaprosiła kilku producentów, chociażby Fryarsa, Ezrę Koeniga (Vampire Weekend) i słynnego Marka Ronsona (Lady Gaga, Adele, Amy Winehouse, Bruno Mars, Action Bronson). Gościnnie w piosenkach pojawiają się z kolei Giggs, Burna Boy i Lady Chann. Melancholijnie popowy i do bólu szczery album "No Shame" promowały piosenki "Trigger Bang" i "Higher" oraz "Three".
