Mimo, że album jest sygnowany nazwiskiem Pop, to jest to wspólne dzieło Iggy’ego Popa i Josha Homme (lidera Queens of the Stone Age, wcześniej Kyuss). Muzycy nagrali płytę w wielkiej tajemnicy i pełnej niezależności, bez pomocy finansowej żadnej wytwórni.Płytę nagrywali w krótkich sesjach, w dwóch studiach Homme’a: dwa tygodnie w jego domu, na pustyni w Joshua Tree, i później przez tydzień w studiu Pink Duck. W nagraniach płyty udział też wzięli Dean Fertita z QOTSA i Dead Weather na gitarze i klawiszach i Matt Helders z Arctic Monkeys na perkusji. Muzyka jest miksem talentu obu kompozytorów, przejrzystych tekstów i charakterystycznego wokalu Popa ze zręcznymi akordami Homme’a.
