Premierowy krążek Rafiqa Bhatii "Breaking English" został wydany z pomocą cenionej oficyny Anti. Rafiq Bhatia urodzony w rodzinie hinduskich emigrantów dorastał słuchając tradycyjnych, religijnych hymnów puszczanych w domu przez ojca. Równolegle dzięki radiu śledził nowości gangsta rapu. Z czasem równie ważnymi inspiracjami stali się dla niego: Jimi Hendrix, John Coltrane i Madlib. Grę na gitarze rozpoczął w szkole średniej. Zanim w 2014 roku dołączył do składu Son Lux, nagrał dwa solowe, jazzowe albumy - "Yes It Will" i "Strata". Zapowiedzią wydawnictwa był utwór "Hoods Up". Rafiq Bhatia poznał lidera Son Lux - Ryana Lotta - po ukończeniu studiów i przeprowadzce z Ohio na Brooklyn. Dzięki temu miał okazję nagrywać m.in. z Lorde i Sufjanem Stevensem. Jest współautorem soundtracku do filmu "Zniknięcie Eleanor Rigby" i "Zbrodnie niewinności".
