the Gabrieli Consort and Players return to the programme that put them on the musical map when it was originally recorded and released in 1990: A Venetian Coronation 1595 is a musical re-creation evoking the grand pageantry of the Coronation Mass for Venetian Doge Marino Grimani. His love of ceremony and state festivals fuelled an extraordinary musical bounty during his reign and formed the background to the musical riches of the period, especially to the works of Giovanni Gabrieli. with cornetts, sackbuts and an all-male consort, Paul McCreesh fully exploits the dazzling polyphony of Andrea and Giovanni Gabrieli’s music and captivates the audience in a theatrical and ceremonious performance. two decades later, the Gabrieli's New Venetian Coronation takes advantage of huge developments in early instruments, performance techniques and research into the pieces that were on the original (as well as advances in recording techniques). this disc follows on from two critically lauded releases with Signum – Berlioz's Grande Messe des Morts (BBC Music Magazine Award winner – technical excellence) and A Song of Farewell (5 Stars – Classic FM Magazine, Double 5 stars – BBC Music Magazine).

Pięć pierwszych krążków stworzonych przez pionierów psychodelicznego folku, pochodzący ze Szkocji i powstały w 1966 roku zespół The Incredible String Band. Formacja miała zaszczyt uczestniczyć w pierwszym festiwalu Woodstock. Zestaw otwiera debiutancka płyta "The Incredible String Band" z 1966 roku. Wyprodukowana przez Joe Boyda (m.in. Pink Floyd, Nick Drake) była jedyną nagraną przez oryginalne trio Clive Palmer - Robin Williamson - Mike Heron. Płytę chwaliła prasa muzyczna, a nawet sam Bob Dylan. Debiut osiągnął wielką popularność i znacząco przyspieszył karierę TISB. Pochodzi z niego znakomita piosenka "October Song". Już niespełna rok po pierwszej płycie na rynku była druga, "The 5000 Spirits Or The Layers Of The Onion" (1967). Już tytuł zwiastuje, że mamy do czynienia z okresem rozkwitu i triumfu grania psychodelicznego, masowej konsumpcji LSD, wolnej miłości. Do Robina i Mike'a w studiu dołączyła między innymi zdolna wokalistka i perkusjonistka Licorice McKechnie. Materiałem zachwycali się John Peel i Paul McCartney. Album był wielkim sukcesem, a dziś zaliczany jest do folkowych klasyków. Trzecim krążkiem w boxie jest "The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter" z 1968 roku, nasycony orientalnym mistycyzmem, co oddawało ducha kultury hipisowskiej. Był to największy sukces komercyjny TISB. W samej Anglii krążek rozszedł się w 800 tys. egzemplarzy. Jeszcze w tym samym roku ukazał się następny materiał zespołu, "Wee Tam And The Big Huge". W zasadzie są to dwa albumy, "Wee Tam" oraz "The Big Huge", które najpierw wydano na podwójnym winylu, a następnie osobno, jak w prezentowanym zbiorze. W USA zaistniała tylko ta druga opcja. Obydwa materiały to w zasadzie dzieło Mike'a i Robina, którzy napisali całą muzykę i teksty oraz zagrali niemal na wszystkich instrumentach. W nielicznych momentach wspierają je wspomniana już Licorice McKechnie oraz Rose Simpson. Album uważany jest obok płyty trzeciej za największe dokonanie TISB i najlepiej wyprodukowany materiał zespołu.
