Pierwszy od ośmiu lat album najsłynniejszego poety piosenki – Leonarda Cohena - „Old Ideas” ukaże się 30 stycznia 2012 roku. Wszystkie 10 utworów na płycie porusza dylematy ludzkiej egzystencji – podążanie za niedoścignionymi celami, obsesję miłości, seksualność, utratę bliskiej osoby. Jeden z najbardziej uduchowionych albumów w karierze artysty, „Old Ideas” skłania do przemyśleń i wzywa do przyzwoitości w życiu codziennym, ale puszcza też oko do słuchacza, czasem pozwala sobie na stonowany żart. Charakterystyczny baryton Cohena oraz melodyjne aranżacje przywołują na myśl ‘Ten New Songs’ (2001) – najpopularniejszy album Cohena z ostatnich dekad. Prace nad ‘Old Ideas’ ruszyły pełną parą w styczniu 2011, choć część piosenek i tekstów powstała już przed paroma laty. Dwa utwory – ‘Darkness’ i ‘Lullaby’ nagrano oryginalnie w 2007 roku a ich wczesne wersje Leonard prezentował podczas ostatniej trasy koncertowej, także w Polsce. Album wyprodukowali Patrick Leonard, Anjani Thomas, Ed Sanders i Dino Soldo, a w piosenkach oprócz Cohena, usłyszeć możemy m.in. Sharon Robinson (znaną właśnie m.in. z ‘Ten New Songs’) i The Webb Sisters. Projekt okładki i rysunki w książeczce do płyty są dziełem samego Cohena.
