Pochodzący z Ameryki wirtuoz trąbki Louis Daniel Armstrong urodził się w 1901 roku w Nowym Orleanie, zmarł natomiast w 1971 roku w Nowym Jorku. Satchmo lub Pops bo takich używał pseudonimów artystycznych był wybitnym jazzmanem, Armstrong wprowadził do jazzu nietypową wokalistykę nazwaną scatem, czym odbił się na kartach historii gatunku.
