Album "Hot Suff Greatest Hits" zawiera największe hity grupy  Fabulous Thunderbirds z lat 1979-1991 (Jimmie Vaughan Era). The Fabulous Thunderbirds to amerykański zespół bluesowy założony w 1974 roku. Po kilkuletniej działalności na bluesowej scenie Austin (Teksas) zespół wygrał kontrakt płytowy w wydawnictwie Takoma/Chrysalis Records. Nagroda otworzyła The Fabulous Thunderbirds drzwi do kariery. Pierwsze dwa krążki zostały wydane w 1979 oraz 1980 roku w składzie Kim Wilson na wokalu, Jimmie Vaughan jako gitarzysta prowadzący, Keith Ferguson na basie oraz Fran Christina na perkusji. Styl zespołu był swoistym miksem teksaskiego bluesa oraz tzw. "swamp bluesa" z domieszkami klimatu dostarczanego przez kompozycje Slim Hatpo czy Lazy Lestera. Na przestrzeni lat kapela miała okazję otwierać koncerty takich gwiazd jak Eric Clapton czy grupa The Rolling Stones. 16 lutego 2000 roku zespół przeszedł do historii stając się pierwszą kapelą, której koncert był transmitowany w Internecie za pośrednictwem kamer HD.
