W 2012 roku serię Jerzy Milian Tapes otworzył zbiór krótkich, rozrywkowych utworów zrealizowanych przez legendarnego jazzmana we współpracy z berlińską orkiestrą Güntera Gollascha. Osiem lat (i woluminów) później wracamy do tych sesji, przypominając kolejną porcję ognistych, big-bandowych szaleństw z lat 70. Na program „Cutting” złożyło się szesnaście zróżnicowanych kompozycji: od tematów opartych na mocnym beacie (m.in. „Lauf zuf Kasse”, będący nową wersją „Bufona Luciano”), poprzez gorąco swingujące „Metro de Londres” po filadelfijski „Kung Tanz”. Nie zabrakło przejmujących ballad („Silvias Traume”) oraz odważniejszych eksperymentów z brzmieniem („Farben”). Zadziorne tematy sekcji trąbek, funkowe gitary, a nawet organy Hammonda i analogowy syntezator składają się na niezwykle szeroką paletę barw, którymi Milian maluje swoje dźwiękowe miniatury. „Cutting” to dziewiąta część serii „Jerzy Milian Tapes”. Wszystkie utwory zarejestrowane w Berlinie Wschodnim w latach 1971-77 roku ukazują się na płycie po raz pierwszy. Wydanie uzupełnia książeczka z niepublikowanymi zdjęciami i szkicem na temat nagrań.
