W roku 1988 ukazał się trzeci album Pet Shop Boys, "Introspective", który także odniósł wielki komercyjny sukces. Rozszedł się na świecie w ponad 4,5 mln kopii. Produkcją zajął się słynny Trevor Horn. Dzięki niemu aranżacje utworów były bogatsze. Ale nie straciły przez to na przebojowości, czego dowodem, chociażby "Domino Dancing" albo "Always On My Mind/In My House".
