Książę Juda Ben-Hur jest bogatym kupcem żyjącym w Jerozolimie na początku pierwszego stulecia. Do miasta przybywa jego długoletni przyjaciel Messala, aby stanąć na czele legionów rzymskich. Mimo, iż dzielą ich poglądy polityczne, mężczyźni cieszą się ze spotkania po latach. Ben-Hur odmawia jednak Messali pomocy w zdławieniu powstania, co dla Rzymianina oznacza zdradę. Na skutek intrygi dawnego druha, książę zostaje skazany na ciężkie prace, a jego rodzina trafia do więzienia. Los Ben-Hura odmieni pewne spotkanie, dzięki któremu Juda otrzyma szansę na dokonanie zemsty     i odzyskanie dawnego życia. Muzykę do filmu stworzył amerykański kompozytor muzyki filmowej Marco Beltrami - jeden z najzdolniejszych współczesnych młodych kompozytorów amerykańskich. Choć urodzony w Stanach Zjednoczonych, Marco wychowywany był w małej i odległej górskiej miejscowości Fornero  we Włoszech. Pierwszych muzycznych doświadczeń nabrał grając w niej jako organista oraz śpiewając    w chórze "Camerata delle Montagne" .Pod okiem włoskiego mistrza Luigi Nono w Wenecji przygotowywał się do nauki w Yale School of Music. Od 1992 powróciwszy do Stanów pobierał nauki u laureata Oscara Jerr` ego Goldsmitha, a także blisko współpracował z Danielem Licht` em. Muzyka jaką skomponował do filmu "The Bicyclist" oraz "The Whispering," otworzyła mu drogę do Hollywood i obecnie jest on jednym z popularniejszych kompozytorów muzyki filmowej, zaś jego specjalnością są horrory i thrillery.
