13 Grudnia 2017 roku w Sao Paula odszedł jeden z najoryginalniejszych i najbardziej emocjonalnych głosów w metalu progresywnym - Warrel Dane (Sanctuary, Nevermore). Warrel nagrywał wtedy następcę debiutanckiego krążka z 2008 roku -“Praises To The War Machine”. Projekt "Shadow Work" miał być z założenia 80-minutowym opusem i choć w momencie śmierci artysty nagrane były już wszystkie ścieżki instrumentalne, Warrel nagrał wokale zaledwie do połowy planowanego materiału. W efekcie mamy do czynienia z 41- minutowym dziełem - porywającym, poruszającym i bardzo intymnym. "Shadow Work" ukazuje się jako limitowane CD z 44 stronicową książeczką przedstawiającą koncepcję całego materiału a także winyl z całym materiałem na CD i 12-stronicową książeczką w formacie płyty winylowej.
