W tym roku obchodzimy 100. rocznicę urodzin Guido Cantelli – genialnego włoskiego dyrygenta, który zginął w wieku zaledwie 36 lat w katastrofie lotniczej tuż po tym, gdy mianowano go dyrektorem artystycznym La Scali. Jego międzynarodowa kariera nabrała blasku w 1948 roku, kiedy usłyszał go Arturo Toscanini i zaprosił do współpracy z NBC Symphony w Nowym Jorku. W ciągu 8 lat kariera Guido Cantelli rozwinęła się bardzo intensywnie. Wytwórnia Warner Classics upamiętnia artystę na 10 płytach publikując komplet nagrań dokonanych dla EMI, które stanowią większość jego spuścizny nagraniowej z najbardziej prestiżowymi orkiestrami świata jak New York Philharmonic, Boston Symphony Orchestra, La Scala, czy Philharmonia Orchestra.
