Ukazał się w 1984 roku, a Książę nagrał piosenki z towarzyszącym mu wtedy zespołem The Revolution. Szóste studyjne wydawnictwo Prince'a w USA sprzedało się w ponad 13 mln egzemplarzy, co dało mu status diamentowej płyty. Na świecie kupiono ponad 22 mln kopii dzieła.
