Wydany w marcu 1995 roku drugi album Radiohead „The Bends”, wyznaczył początek współpracy zespołu z - tutaj jeszcze tylko pełniącym obowiązki realizatora - Nigelem Godrichem, późniejszym stałym współproducentem nagrań Radiohead.„The Bends” był także odejściem Yorke`a od osobistych tekstów, w stronę bardziej tajemniczych i naznaczonych socjalnymi i globalnymi tematami. Muzycznie, nie zabrakło tu brudnych, hałaśliwych gitarowych riffów, jak w `Just`, czy nawet lekko funkujących jak w „Planet Telex”, jednak są także delikatne, często akustyczne, a przy tym oniryczne dźwięki, jak w „High And Dry, Fake Plastic Trees” czy pięknym finale albumu, utworze „Street Spirit (Fade Out)”. Chociaż żaden z pięciu towarzyszących albumowi singli nie odniósł sukcesu na miarę „Creep”, album spotkał się wręcz z entuzjastycznym przyjęciem, co zapewniło mu sprzedaż na poziomie potrójnej platyny w Wielkiej Brytanii i Kanadzie, a także platyny w Stanach Zjednoczonych.
Oryginalnie wydany w 1991 roku album 'Distant Plastic Trees' oraz o rok młodszy 'The Wayward Bus', były pierwszymi wydawnictwami w dorobku amerykańskiej, indie popowej formacji The Magnetic Fields. Oba zostały zarejestrowane z Susan Anway i były jedynymi wydawnictwami, na których Susan wystąpiła w roli głównej wokalistki. Szczególne uznanie zdobył album 'The Wayward Bus' z 1992 roku, który dziś jest wydawnictwem o statusie kultowym.
