Po doskonale przyjętym albumie „Yellow House" (2006) i prestiżowych trasach z Radiohead, TV On The Radio czy Feist, grupa Grizzly Bear wraca na scenę z nowym albumem, urzekającym, jak zawsze, swym nieziemskim pięknem, ale też dojrzalszym i muzycznie doskonalszym. „Veckatimest" (indiańska nazwa pożyczona od maleńkiej, bezludnej wysepki położonej nieopodal Cape Cod) to jakby właśnie egzamin dojrzałości zespołu stworzonego pierwotnie jako jednorazowy projekt przez pochodzącego z Bostonu wokalistę Eda Droste`a i perkusistę Christophera Beara. Projekt okazał się tak udany, że obaj przyjaciele postanowili nie rozstawać się z nim przedwcześnie. I słusznie, bowiem Grizzly Bear niemal przebojem wpisał się - po opublikowaniu debiutanckiego „Horn Of Plenty" (2004) - do elity indie-rocka, tej spod znaku Animal Collective, Sufjana Stevensa czy Band Of Horses. Akustyczne i półakustyczne brzmienia, kunsztowne harmonie wokalne i lekko oniryczny liryzm przywołują erę psychodelicznego rocka lat 60.
The virtues of Colin Davis' Concertgebouw Haydn recordings are well known: judicious tempos, excellent playing (particularly from the wind soloists), and stylish phrasing even in quick movements. It's also very nice to see Symphony No. 88 on CD after so many years in the discographic wilderness... In multichannel format, the engineers capture plenty of room ambiance with no loss of clarity or excessive rear-channel emphasis.
