Choć Prince'a nie ma z nami już ponad dwa lata, archiwa niezwykle kreatywnego artysty pełne są nagrań, których nie poznali fani. Dzięki współpracy spadkobierców "Księcia" oraz wytwórni Warner, ukazuje się wyjątkowy album – "Piano & A Microphone 1983". Płyta "Piano & A Microphone 1983" zawiera kompozycje Prince'a, które nigdy wcześniej nie były publikowane. Jest ich łącznie dziewięć i trwają 35 minut. Prince wykonał je na fortepianie i zarejestrował w 1983 roku podczas próby w swoim studiu Kiowa Trail w Minnesocie na magnetofonie kasetowym. Teraz będzie można ich posłuchać z CD, płyty winylowej, posłuchać w streamingu oraz ściągnąć na dysk w postaci plików.   Będzie też coś dla kolekcjonerów, czyli wydanie deluxe, zawierające zarówno kompakt, jak i nośnik analogowy. W nim znajdzie się 12-calowy booklet z notkami autorstwa inżyniera dźwięku współpracującego w 1983 roku z Prince'em, Dona Battsa, wcześniej niepublikowane zdjęcia artysty. "Są to surowe i intymne nagrania, których Prince dokonał tuż przed osiągnięciem wielkiego sukcesu i statusu gwiazdy. Pod względem formatu przypominają "Piano & A Microphone Tour", która miała miejsce pod koniec jego kariery w 2016 roku" – mówi Troy Carter, doradca spadkobierców Prince'a. "Rodzina artysty jest podekscytowana tym, że fani będą mieli okazję poznać w ten sposób proces artystycznej ewolucji kariery Prince'a". Aby zaostrzyć apetyty, napiszmy, że wśród piosenek są, chociażby "17 Days", "Purple Rain" (tak, tak, późniejszy superhit w ascetycznej, intymnej wersji), znana z repertuaru Joni Mitchell "A Case Of You", "Strange Relationship" (w 1987 roku wydana na albumie "Sign O' The Times"), "International Lover" oraz interpretacja XIX-wiecznego utworu z nurtu negro spirituals "Mary Don't You Weep". Ten ostatni znalazł się na napisach końcowych filmu Spike'a Lee "BlacKkKlansman". Wszystkie utwory znalazły się na wydawnictwie w takiej postaci, w jakiej zostały nagrane przez Prince'a.
