NME 9/10 – „Szalona i wymagająca, ambitna i wyjątkowa sztuka”. Louder Than War 10/10 – „Arcydzieło”. The Wire – „Nic innego na tym albumie, ani nic innego na żadnym innym albumie w tym roku, nie może się równać jego intensywności”. Album wyprodukował sam Michael Gira, a nagrał go John Congleton w studio Sonic Ranch, niedaleko El Paso w Texasie. Dodatkowe nagrania i miks odbyły się w studio Johna, w Dallas. Muzycy rozpoczęli próby w Sonic Ranch w październiku 2013 i wkrótce potem zaczęli nagrania. Duża część materiału powstawała podczas tras SWANS w 2012 i 2013 roku, a reszta w warunkach studyjnych. Swans tworzą: Michael Gira, Norman Westberg, Christoph Hahn, Phil Puleo, Thor Harris, Christopher Pravdica. Gościnnie na płycie udzielają się: St. Vincent, Cold Specks, Bill Rieflin, Little Annie, Julia Kent. Zespół Swans, którego założycielem jest Michael Gira, powstał w 1982 roku.
