Charlie Haden uznawany jest za mistrza swojego instrumentu i za jednego z najważniejszych muzyków i kompozytorów jazzowych. Na najnowszej płycie założonego w  1987 roku przez niego Quartet West pojawiają się największe jazzowe, ale nie tylko, wokalistki:  Cassandra Wilson, Diana Krall, Melody Gardot, Norah Jones, Renee Fleming oraz żona Charliego - Ruth Cameron. W 2006 roku David Moore stworzył grupę Bing & Ruth, by przedstawić swoje kompozycje publiczności poza akademią, do której uczęszczał. Pianista z Kansas, studiujący w New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music w nowojorskim Greenwich Village, tworzył muzykę, której sam chciał słuchać: minimalistyczną z typową filmową wrażliwością, której gracja i faktura wykraczała poza ramy stylistyczne.
