Houndmouth tworzy czterech muzyków: Matt Myers (gitara/wokal), Katie Toupin (klawisze/wokal), Zak Appleby (bas/wokal) i Shane Cody (perkusja/wokal). Pochodzą z New Albany, miejscowości w stanie Indiana (którą od Louisville, a przy tym stanu Kentucky, dzieli tylko rzeka Ohio). Miniony rok upłynął im na budowaniu bazy fanów, a także koncertowaniu u boku Alabama Shakes, The Lumineers, Drive-By Truckers i innych. Houndmouth to wspaniały młody zespół - deklarował po wspólnych koncertach Patterson Hood z Drive-By Truckers. Każdy koncert miał w sobie „to coś". Stali się niesamowicie popularni wśród naszych fanów i lubiani w naszym zespole. Czekam na to, co zrobią dalej. Historia Houndmouth rozpoczęła się w listopadzie 2011 roku, kiedy to czwórka przyjaciół wynajęła salę prób i wzięła do ręki instrumenty. Wyposażeni jedynie w coś do picia i ciekawość, co może z tego wyjść. Grywali wcześniej ze sobą w różnych okolicznościach. Wychowani na bluesie, klasycznym rocku i muzyce z Motown Matt Myers i Zak Appleby, od paru lat grali już razem w zespole coverowym.
