Królowa muzyki soul, Aretha Franklin, odeszła od nas po długiej chorobie 16 sierpnia 2018 roku. Pozostawiła po sobie mnóstwo wspaniałej muzyki. Dla uczczenia pamięci wybitnej artystki przygotowano zestaw jej singlowych utworów dla wytwórni Atlantic. Zbiorowi singli nadano tytuł "The Atlantic Singles Collection 1967-1970". Utwory w nim pochodzą z czasów, kiedy Aretha Franklin odniosła spektakularny sukces, stając się jednocześnie jedną z największych wokalistek na świecie. W ciągu tych trzech lat wylansowała dziewięć singli, które zdobyły status złotych, trzy złotem płyty, zdobyła też trzy nagrody Grammy oraz wielkie międzynarodowe uznanie. "The Atlantic Singles Collection 1967-1970" przygotowano na dwóch płytach CD, podwójnym winylu oraz w postaci plików cyfrowych. Łącznie na CD znajdują się 34 utwory. Umieszczono je w porządku chronologicznym, tak jak pojawiały się albumy je zawierające, czyli: I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You (1967), Aretha Arrives (1967), Lady Soul (1968), Aretha Now (1968), Soul '69 (1969), This Girl's In Love With You (1970), Spirits In The Dark (1970). Wyjątkiem jest cover utworu Eltona Johna "Border Song", który ukazał się dopiero na płycie "Young, Gifted And Black" z 1972 roku.
