“Piękno i zakres jej śpiewu są obecnie na imponująco wysokim poziomie” napisał w grudniu 2017 r. Financial Times tuż po recitalu Joyce DiDonato z Brentano Qartet w słynnej londyńskiej Wigmore Hall. Program, nagrany live przez Warner Classics, zbudowany został wokół cyklu pieśni Jake’a Heggie pt. „Camille Claudel. Into the Fire”, skomponowanego specjalnie dla Joyce DiDonato. Cykl prawykonany został w 2012 r. w San Francisco. New York Times napisał wówczas “kompresuje operę do cyklu pięknych pieśni, które silnie rezonują z emocjami”. To nagranie live cyklu, który zestawiony jest z pieśniami Debussy’ego i Richarda Straussa, a także z kwartetem autorstwa belgijskiego kompozytora, który zmarł młodo – Guillaume Lekeu, poszerza warnerowski katalog nagrań utworów Heggiego w wykonaniu Joyce DiDonato. Wokalistce towarzyszy tu kwartet smyczkowy, a kompozytor składa muzyczny hołd Debussy’emu, którego kwartet smyczkowy powstał w 1893 r. Debussy był bliskim przyjacielem Camille Claudel, pogłoska głosi nawet, że mieli romans. Jego dyskretnie erotyczne „Chansons de Bilitis” wykonane zostały w 1897 r. Pięć pieśni Straussa, które znalazły się w głównym programie koncertu, powstało pomiędzy 1885 a 1895 r. Prezentują one inne podejście estetyczne i kulturowe do niuansów fin de sciecle. Wszystkie akompaniamenty pieśni zaaranżowane zostały na kwartet smyczkowy. Ponieważ jest to nagranie live, na płycie znalazły się także dwa bizy – “Morgen” Straussa oraz urocza kolęda Franza Xavera Grubera “Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht” (“Cicha noc”).
