Karl Bartos to 1/4 klasycznego składu pionierów sceny elektronicznej - niemieckiej grupy Kraftwerk. Grał z zespołem w latach 1975 - 1990. W latach świetności Kraftwerk, Karl miał decydujący wpływ na brzmienie grupy, w jego domowym zaciszu powstało wiele charakterystycznych rytmów i melodii. Był perkusistą i autorem wielu tekstów. Przy jego udziale powstały takie albumy jak "Die Mensch-Maschine", "Computerwelt" i "Electric Cafe".Dziennikarz magazynu Rolling Stone, Mike Rubin wspomniał tamte lata: "W piosenkach z tego okresu jest coś ponadczasowego i uniwersalnego". Wtedy powstały takie kompozycje jak: "Robots", "Metropolis", "Neon Lights", "Numbers", "Pocket Calculator", "Home Computer", "Tour de France", "Musique Non-Stop" czy "The Telephone Call", które do dziś nie trącą myszką. W roku 1992 Karl Bartos stworzył Elektric Music - zespół wykonujący repertuar zbliżony stylistycznie do dokonań swojej poprzedniej grupy. Pod szyldem Elektric Music w 1993 wydał album "Esperanto", a w 1998.
