Fani Bruce’a Springsteena powinni być zachwyceni – 15 listopada w sprzedaży ukazują się aż 4 wydawnictwa nawiązujące do jednej z głośniejszych płyt Bossa - "Darkness on the Edge of Town" z 1978 roku. Są to: 2 płyty CD lub 3 płyty winylowych (ukazujące się pod tytułem: „The Promise”) oraz box z 3CD+3DVD i box z 3CD+3Blu-Ray’e (ukazujące się pod innym tytułem - "The Promise: Darkness On The Edge Of Town Story").Podstawą wydawnictwa jest niepublikowany dotąd materiał nagrany podczas sesji do "Darkness on the Edge of Town" (w sumie aż 21 utworów), które – jak pisze Springsteen we wkładce do płyty – "mogły/powinny były się ukazać po Born To Run a przed "Darkness on The Edge…". Do wydań z DVD(Blu-Ray) dołączona jest dodatkowo oryginalna, po raz pierwszy zmasterowana wersja "Darkness on the Edge of Town". Jeśli chodzi o materiały filmowe, znajdą się tu niepokazywane nigdy ujęcia ze studia i nagrania koncertowe a także 90-minutowy dokument "The Promise: The Making of (Darkness on the Edge of Town)", zaprezentowany 14 września podczas festiwalu filmowego w Toronto. Dołączona została również 80-stronicowa książeczka zawierająca m.in. zapiski muzyka z sesji, inne wersje tekstów piosenek, szkice utworów czy szczegóły dotyczące nagrań, jak również ekskluzywne zdjęcia Springsteena.
