John Coltrane był jednym z najbardziej rewolucyjnych saksofonistów tenorowych w historii jazzu. Jednak oprócz eksperymentalnej gry Coltrane był także świetnym stylistą balladowym, zdolnym do tworzenia bardzo osobistego i intymnego brzmienia. Ta zremasterowana (24 BIT Remastered) płyta CD kompiluje jedne z najlepszych nagrań ballad i standardowych piosenek miłosnych Trane, obejmujące okres od 1957 do 1962 r. (Ale wyraźnie wyklucza każdy utwór z jego słynnego albumu „Ballads na Impulse”). Wspierają go inni wielcy jazzowi, tacy jak trębacz Donald Byrd, pianiści Red Garland, Wynton Kelly, Mal Waldron i McCoy Tyner, basista Paul Chambers oraz perkusiści Art Taylor i Elvin Jones.
